Přednáška známého historika a předního odborníka na tibetsko-čínské vztahy
Srdečně zveme na přednášku předního historika a odborníka na tibetsko-čínské vztahy, prof. 
Elliota Sperlinga, který dlouhodobě působil jako vedoucí Katedry centrálněasijských studií (Department of Central Euroasian Studies) na Indiana University v Bloomingtonu. Elliot Sperling je předním odborníkem na tibetsko-čínské vztahy s hlubokou znalostí čínských i tibetských primárních pramenů, proslul také svými pracemi týkajícími se role Tangutů ve vztazích Tibetu a Číny. Přednášku pořádá společně Ústav jižní a centrální Asie, Mezinárodní centrum Chiang Ching-kuovy nadace při Karlově univerzitě a Orientální ústav AV. Elliot Sperling přednese přednášku na téma:
Tibetan History Inside and Outside China
abstrakt přednášky:
The history of Tibet has been particularly contentious since the early 20th century, with several issues—not just those concerned with Tibet’s status—indicative of the different ways in which that history has been understood. The understanding of Tibetan history has at times been dependent upon non-Tibetan sources, often analysed with little to no reference to Tibetan historical writing. This talk will discuss some of the issues in Tibetan history, the ways that particular observers and scholars from outside Tibet, including those from China and the West, have viewed them, and the overall impact this has had in shaping our contemporary understanding of Tibetan history.
